Today was the campers’ last full day here at Wapo and it has definitely been a day to remember. There was a fort building contest that replaced our usual Beach Bash which was cancelled due to rain. The kids loved transforming their cabins into cozy creations. During free time, we had Tie Dye as our craft of the day. Lots of kids will be coming home with colorful shirts to show off.
For dinner we had a semi-formal banquet called Fiesta de Wapo. Kids were escorted in and served a delicious taco dinner.
After that, there was Masterpiece Theatre, where counselors put together a bunch of funny skits to entertain the kids. Masterpiece is a highlight for many campers each year.
The night ended with our last specialty worship: Light Worship. Scenes from the story of Jesus are displayed in silhouettes by counselors behind a back lit sheet. It is a captivating and memorable presentation of the gospel for kids.
What a wonderful week we’ve had together. Though we will be sad to see them go, we are so excited to send these kids out into the world to be the light to the people around them!
