Today is the campers’ last full day here at Wapo and it has definitely been a day to remember, packed with many fun activities! This morning we played one of our craziest field games: Hula Launchers. The kids get to launch balls using a water balloon launcher into a net across the field to earn points for their team.
This afternoon we had our annual beach bash. At the bash kids can participate in various games to earn tokens that win them prizes, such as sinking their counselor in a canoe and sending their counselor to 30 seconds on the dance floor. Some of the competitions are a belly flop contest, sand castle building contest, and tug of war. At the end, some lucky campers are called up to pie a counselor in the face. It is always a great event!
During free time this afternoon kids had the opportunity to tie dye. It is always exciting to see how they turn out!
For dinner we had a semi-formal banquet called Fiesta de Wapo. Kids were escorted in and served a delicious taco dinner by their counselors. Then, the kids got to watch their counselors perform in Masterpiece, which is a series of fun skits that we do each week. We’ll end the night singing and dancing at one last campfire together.
What a wonderful week we’ve had. Though we will be sad to see these kids go tomorrow, we are so excited to send them out into the world to be the light to the people around them!
