This morning we started once again with a chapel service, where the kids learned about the ways Jesus served during his time on Earth. They heard through a monologue the story of Jesus washing his disciples’ feet on the night he was betrayed. After that, we had Bible Study and cabin activities before lunch. Some kids today got the chance to go to Land Connection, a local farm, to visit animals and learn about where food comes from. Other kids were able to try out the high ropes course at Ox Lake, one of our other sites located about five miles away.
After dinner tonight, the counselors were able to serve the kids at our annual Servant Fair. The kids are free to go to a number of stations that offer them services such as hair washing, balloon animals, shaving cream hair, caricatures, nail painting, and many more. This event fits perfectly with our theme for the day: He Served, We Serve.
Campfire tonight was split for the alpha and beta campers, giving the kids a chance to worship in a smaller setting with their peers.
Later in the evening, we had another specialty worship event called Drawn to the Word. Pastor and Painter Paul Oman comes each week and depicts a Bible story for kids through painting. While he paints, counselors accompany him with music, dance, and spoken word. It is a great way for campers to experience a variety of ways to bring glory to God.
We can’t believe tomorrow is already our last full day with this final group of campers! What fun we are having with them!
